The Directorate is based on the Two-Tier system created by Caradoc, comprising Elder and Younger Directorates.

 

As a newcomer to the Fief you will automatically be given a three month "probationary" period, during which time you will be monitored, and your suitability and best position be decided.  (This period may be extended at the discretion of the Gerousia, upon the advice of the Chair of the Younger Directorate).  Whilst in this period you will officially be an Interim Member of the Younger Directorate, allowing you to attend and speak at Directorate Meetings, but not vote.

 

Once it has been decided that you are fit for the Younger Directorate and your position has been established you will be promoted to Eiren (Associate) and take your place on the Board as a full member.  You will be directly answerable to the Chair of the Younger Directorate, who is in turn answerable to the Gerousia.

 

Your time in the Younger Directorate is a period for you to grow and establish yourself in the Fief.  It may appear that you are somewhat constrained by many of the rules of the clan, however you must understand that they are there to protect both yourself and the Directorate as a whole.  You must do all within your power to forward not only your own personal agenda, but also that of the Directorate and Clan as a whole.  As your standing and dignitas increases you will move towards the position of Questor. (Foreman) 

 

Upon suitable service as a Questor you may be invited to join the Gerousia(Elder Directorate), whilst retaining your Questor Status. At this point you will find that although the rules are "relaxed", the punishment for any breach is increased to compensate.  Once on the Gerousia you gain 2 votes in any ballot put before the Directorate and equivilant prestige within the clan.  The Chair of the Younger Directorate also has a seat on the Gerousia, but only one vote.

 

Once you have proved yourself as a Questor you will then become an Aediles (Supervisor) and be given Special Projects to fulfill.  There can be as many Aediles as the Directorate believes is acceptable.

 

The Praetor (Manager) of the Directorate is the next position available, and is usually given to the most competent of the Aediles, it is the Praetors duty to assist the Stragetgoi as much as possible, he is the hand and the voice of the Elder to the rest of the Directorate (and often one of the Elders most trusted Advisors.)

 

Alternatively, it may be decided that your skills lie more as a Lictor. (Troubleshooter) Who, Although holds a seat on the Gerousia is answerable to the Stragetgoi and Ephors, not the Directorate.  It is the Lictors duty to assist the Directorate as a whole.

 

The highest position within the Fief is that of Stragetgoi, Elder, or Chair of the Directorate.  The Elder is the Face of the Clan to the Camarilla, and holds a seat on the Primogen Council. (Council of Elders)  The Chair does not usually vote in ballots, however (s)he has the power to veto any decision made.  The Stragetgoi sets Policy for the Directorate and is the final level in the appeals process for Disciplinary Procedures.

 

Above the Local Directorate lies the International Directorates, the lowest levels commencing with Tribunes, then Lictors who can rise to Stragetgoi, And eventually aim to become an Ephor, one of the International Directorate based in Hamburg who set policy for the Clan as a whole.  It is believed that the Justicar is a Member of this Board.
